AEJ-Bulgaria is looking for examples of both high-quality and pseudo journalism in 2011

Which are the journalistic pieces of work that manipulate the public opinion in favour of the public powers or in favour of individual intеrests? And which are the articles that focus on original and socially important issues, showing thinking out of the box? These are the questions that the Association of European Journalists – Bulgaria (AEJ) is eager to answer by ranking the examples of high-quality journalism and those that represent the worst practices in the field of journalism in 2011. Journalists give poor mark to press freedom in Bulgaria, according to an AEJ-Bulgaria poll

“Bad” is the assessment for the freedom of speech in Bulgaria according to the evaluation of journalists who took part in the AEJ -Bulgaria’s survey on press freedom. They were asked to use a five scale method (5-excellent; 4-good; 3-satisfying; 2-bad; 1- very bad) in order to assess the level of  freedom of expression in the country.

AEJ-Bulgaria organizes seminar on access to information for journalists and students

The Association of Bulgarian Journalists (AEJ)-Bulgaria invites journalists and students in journalism to participate in a training on practical skills for access to information. The seminar, organized with the support of the European Commission’s Representation in Bulgaria, will be lead by Alexander Kashamov, lawyer and member of the non-governmental organization Access to Information Programme (AIP). The event will take place on 4th of May 2011, on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day (3th of May).

AEJ-Bulgaria promotes professional contacts across Europe

AEJ Bulgaria would like to encourage Bulgarian journalist to make more contacts with colleagues across Europe. The idea is to build up a database with profiles of Bulgarian journalists which will be categorized by the area of their expertise.  AEJ Bulgaria will distribute that data among similar international platforms and journalistic associations.
